Description: Analyzes the contexts in which new religions emerge, Religious Studies 423 / Programs and Courses 423 / Programs and Courses their relations with dominant religious traditions or normative cultures, and the religious content of such movements. Examines the “cult” versus “religion” debate; apocalyptic, eschatological, and millennial views of the world; the nature of charismatic leadership; regional patterns; and transnational trends.
