Prerequisites: upper-division standing or consent of instructor

Description: Explores politics of food using gender, race, class, and globalization as analytical lenses. Examines expressions of gender and sexuality in food consumption. Investigates relationships between diet and structural racism and between feminist politics and food movements. Topics include food and advertisement, industrial and sustainable agriculture, food security, health, and bioengineering. Fulfills either the Humanities or Social Sciences requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, but not both.
