Description: A survey of the significant Black American writers and literary movements in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries (the folk period of Black literature). Attention is on slave narratives, protest literature, and the Harlem Renaissance. Fulfills the Humanities requirement for the College of Humani ties, Arts, and Social Sciences.
