Description: The evolution of rural Mexico: from origins of Mesoamerican agriculture to the rise of high civilizations; from the establishment of the colonial system to the demise of colonial agricultural institutions; from the revolution of 1910 to the enactment of land reform and development programs. The role of peasantry in the making of the modern state is emphasized.
