Prerequisites: upper-division standing

Description: Explores the relation between Africa and the Western world. Examines systems of colonialism and globalization, as well as the issue of woman, gender identity, and representation in postcolonial Africa. Highlights the impact of these issues on African society, as well as the struggle against systematic practices of oppression that persist at the axis of race, gender, and sexuality. Fulfills the Humanities requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
