Description: Introduces Information Retrieval (IR) principles and techniques for indexing and searching document collections with special emphasis on Web search. Includes text processing, ranking algorithms, search in social networks, search evaluation, and search engines scalability. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) by students advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
