Description: . Prerequisite(s): CS 161; or consent of instructor. Introduces performance optimization for sequential computer programs. Covers high performance computing on multicore shared memory computers and on distributed memory computing clusters. Also covers high performance scientific libraries and computing application development using pthreads, OpenMP, and Message Passing Interface (MPI) parallel file systems. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) by students advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
