Description: Examines theories of gender and kinship, the formation of gender hierarchies and their uneven development, and the dynamics of “family” and gender in stratified social formations. Analyzes the relationship between family forms and political and economic processes. Cross- listed with ANTH 149. Fulfills the Social Sciences requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
