Prerequisites: GEO 001 or GEO 030 or equivalent
Description: Discusses mineral reactions in extreme conditions in the Earth’s mantle and at the core-mantle boundary, the possible fate of continental and oceanic plates subducted to Earth’s deep interior, and new models of the origin and evolution of mantle convection and plumes. Graded Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC). Course is repeatable to a maximum of 8 units.
