Description: History of the aboriginal peoples of Texas from the earliest times to the present. Examines pre-colonial eras, European invasion, and colonialism under Mexico, the Republic of Texas, and the United States. Discusses the effects of treaties, laws, and federal and state policies on modern Texas Indians. Emphasizes the survival and adaptation of native peoples of Texas. Fulfills either the Humanities or Social Sciences requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, but not both.
