Prerequisites: graduate standing or consent of instructor

Description: An introduction to the analysis of colonial discourse and the postcolonial condition. Issues addressed include, among others, historiography and subalternity; nationalism, gender, and sexuality; neocolonialism and transnationality; theorizing resistance; mimicry in colonial discourse; the academy, pedagogy, and the postcolonial intellectual. Course is repeatable as content changes.
