Description: Examines the emergence and outcomes of collective action and social movements. Considers the conditions under which social movements develop and why they succeed or fail. Utilizes sociological the- ories to understand collective action and social move- ments. Includes analysis of the U.S. civil rights move- ment, feminist movement, and LGBIT movement.
