Description: Examines the religious thought of the two most notable black religious figures of the twentieth century. Addresses the ways notions of gender lay deeply embedded within their faith, public persona, and conceptions of black freedom. Topics include black theology of liberation, masculinist rhetoric, and black feminist and womanist responses.
