Prerequisites: ME 240A or consent of instructor
Description: An introduction to the application of fundamental conser- vation laws of mechanics (mass, momentum, and energy) to the modeling of complex turbulent natural and human-made flows. Covers tensor notation, sta- tistical and spectral analysis, and basic turbulent clo- sure techniques, including understanding of turbu- lence with intuitive insight into the problems that can- not be rigorously solved. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) by students advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
