Description: Introduces the major themes in African American education. Focuses on litigation in public education, politics, policies in circumventing desegregation, and churches and com- munity organizations advancing desegregated educa- tion. Also explores poverty and urban schools, social programs, the Afrocentric pedagogy of failure, sepa- rate schools for blacks, resegregation, and the achievement promise. Fulfills the Humanities require- ment for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
