Description: Integrates the theory and practice of distributed sys- tems with a focus on recent developments in distrib- uted systems. Includes middleware architectures; dis- tributed process management and real-time schedul- ing; dependability; and group communication proto- cols. Also covers distributed process management; replication; large-scale peer-to-peer systems; Internet content delivery; and Web caching. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) by students advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
