Description: A critical study of classic the- ories and theorists in the study of religion within their historical contexts. Featured thinkers include Frazer, Eliade, Smart, Spinoza, Durkheim, Freud, and Weber. Considers such intellectual movements as Higher Criticism of the Bible, psychoanalysis, phenomenolo- gy, and hermeneutics.
