Description: MATH 046 is recommended. An exploration of the physics of the earthquake process. Focuses on processes control- ling fault slip and friction mechanics, as well as mod- eling the space/time characteristics of earthquake occurrence. Utilizes theoretical/analytical tools and numerical models. Includes an independent project in computer modeling.
