Description: Examines the chemical principles of natural geologic processes occurring at and near Earth’s surface. Topics include biogeochemi- cal cycles of the elements; water-rock interactions; applications of thermodynamics and kinetics to the study of low-temperature processes and their rates; and proxy records of Earth history examined in the field and lab.
