Description: A survey of the significant Black American writers and literary movements in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries (the folk period of Black liter- ature). Attention is on slave narratives, protest litera- ture, and the Harlem Renaissance. Fulfills the Humanities requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
