Description: D. program in Education or consent of instructor. Analyzes the social and cultural organization of schools and the relationship between schooling and social inequality. Draws upon research in sociology, anthropology, and education to examine theoretical perspectives on the relationship between schooling and social stratification, with special attention to the influence of class, race, and ethnicity on academic achievement.
