Description: Discusses the theoretical and practi- cal issues arising in the context of computer systems security and the principles underlying the design of secure computing environments. Topics include cryp- tography, security models, authentication protocols, network security, intrusion detection, attacks and their countermeasures, and secure systems design. May be taken Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) by students advanced to candidacy for the Ph.D.
