Description: An overview of genome organiza- tion and gene expression, with aspects of biochem- istry, evolution, natural history, and clinical manifesta- tions of human parasites Trypanosoma, Leishmania, Plasmodium, and others. Emphasizes the molecular and biochemical adaptations to parasitism. Prior knowledge of classical parasitology is not assumed. Students present original research papers during the seminar.
