Description: Examinations of thermodynamic and transport properties in strongly correlated materials which often exhibit unusual broken-symmetry ground states. Topics include measurements of specific heat, resis- tivity, magnetoresistivity, thermopower, and the Hall effect of existing and previously uncharacterized com- pounds. Students who present a seminar or submit a paper receive a letter grade; other students receive a Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) grade. Course is repeatable. Beyermann
