Description: An introduction to the nomenclature and classification of igneous and metamorphic rocks. Includes identification of the major rock-forming minerals and common rocks in hand samples and thin sections, as well as interpretation of rock fabrics and textures. Explores tectonic setting and the origins of major rock types.
