Description: Introduces the major themes in African American education. Focuses on litigation in public education, politics, policies in circumventing desegregation, and church- es and community organizations advancing desegre- gated education. Also explores poverty and urban schools, social programs, the Afrocentric pedagogy of failure, separate schools for blacks, resegregation, and the achievement promise. Fulfills the Humanities requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
