Description: Overview of the Asian American experience in the United States before World War II. Describes how the racialization of Asians as “non-White” and nonassimilable shaped the experiences of Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Filipinos, and South Asians in America. Fulfills either the Humanities or Social Sciences requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, but not both.
