Description: Introduces single-electron devices and their potential use in very large-scale integration applica- tions and quantum computing. Topics include Coulomb blockade, “orthodox” theory of single-elec- tron tunneling, single-electron transistor, shot noise theory superconducting and quantum dot single-elec- tron devices, analog applications, single-electron memory and logic, basic principles of quantum com- puting and quantum cryptography, Shor’s algorithm, quantum error correction, and potential solid-state realizations of a quantum computer.
