Prerequisites: graduate standing in Chemistry or consent of instructor
Description: Surveys all aspects of ion chemistry in the gas phase. Topics include mass spectrometry, ion mobility, electrospray ioniza- tion, matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization, ion- molecule reactions, ion-ion reactions, quantum calcu- lations, instrumentation, and photodissociation spec- troscopy. Emphasis is on bioanalytical applications for the study of protein structure, folding, and assem- bly. Students who present a seminar or submit a term paper receive a letter grade; other students receive a Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) grade. Course is repeatable. Julian
