Description: Explores the chemistry of nanostructured materials. Introduces nanotechnology, solid state chemistry and physics of nanomaterials, nanoscale characterization tools, lithography, micro- and nanofabrication, physical and chemical methods to nanomaterials, surface modifica- tion, sol-gel chemistry, self assembly at various length scales, and bio-inspired materials. Emphasis is on development of novel functional nanostructured Chemistry materials through chemical synthesis, surface modifi- cation, and self-assembly. Students who present a seminar receive a letter grade; other students receive a Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC) grade. Course is repeatable. Yin
