Description: A comparative and historical exploration of the social and personal meanings of masculinity with spe- cial emphasis on the American experience. Topics include socialization, sports and war, friendship, inti- macy, sexuality, fathering, and work. Particular atten- tion is paid to the role of masculinity in systems of gender inequality.
