Description: A study of pilgrimage in reli- gious traditions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism) from sociological, anthropologi- cal, and ritual perspectives, considering constructions of time, space, community, and ethnicity. Attention is paid to the concept of colonialism and the formation of an “American” religious identity through sacred space and travel.
