Description: Discusses mineral reactions in extreme conditions in the Earth’s mantle and at the core-man- tle boundary, the possible fate of continental and oceanic plates subducted to Earth’s deep interior, and new models of the origin and evolution of mantle con- vection and plumes. Graded Satisfactory (S) or No Credit (NC). Course is repeatable to a maximum of 8 units.
