Description: MATH 046 is rec- ommended. An exploration of the physics of the earthquake process. Focuses on processes controlling fault slip and friction mechanics, as well as modeling the space/time characteristics of earthquake occur- rence. Utilizes theoretical/analytical tools and numeri- cal models. Includes an independent project in com- puter modeling.
