Description: MATH 146A, MATH 146B, and MATH 146C are recommended. An exploration of the physics of the earthquake process. Students use both numerical models and theoretical and analytical tools to learn about the processes of fault fracture, rupture propagation, and slip, and their relation to ground motion in earthquakes. Requires an independent project in computer earthquake model- ing.
