Description: This course will focus on the Vietnamese American experience in con- temporary society. Special emphasis will be placed on the relationship of Vietnamese Americans to the larger society and on intergenerational strains and conflicts. Among the topics addressed are: 1) socioeconomic and educational problems; 2) the family; 3) religion; and 4) the relationship between Vietnamese Americans and other racial ethnic groups (African Americans, Native Americans, Anglos, and Chicanos). Fulfills either the Humanities or Social Sciences requirement for the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, but not both.
