Description: Examines alternative theories of society, change, and development, as well as the assumptions and premis- es on which they are based. Considers how they are used to explain capitalist development, imperialism, colonial encounters, nationalism, decolonization, socialist revolution, modernization, unequal exchange, uneven development, globalization, and postcolonial- ism.
