   1. Regarding the UCR CS/CE/EE program, what's the area in your
      opinion needing most improvement? Explain.




   2. You want to keep a bowl of ice cubes in ice form as long as possible
      in your home. Which is better -- cover them with a blanket (assuming
      the blanket doesn't touch the cubes), or leave them uncovered? Explain.





   3. Why does water form on the outside of a cold glass of water? Explain
      -- a one-word answer is no good.




   4. You have a string of some length. All you know is that if you light
      one end (either one), it will burn for one hour -- but you cannot assume
      at a constant rate. Explain how to use this string to time the passing 
      of a half hour. Your thought process is what I'm most interested in
      here -- so write down your thoughts as you try to solve the problem.
