Apart from the news of Block Day there were two things in recent past which made New Block a happening place. One of them is - no doubt the renovation work, which made New Blockians life miserable, since they had to get early thanks to the sound of hammers & another thing happened during Saraswati Bisarjan.

Some of New Blockians fell ill after consuming "Siddhi".
After some times when some (almost everyone) had reached the seventh heaven, Gods conspired to pull them back to "Martya" & forced them all to vomit. The scene was very pleasant as well as sorrowful. Some made exquisite comments and some questioned about others' health while vomiting themselves.
One was in a serious condition. Doctor had to be called for. After hearing that a doctor had come to see him, he replied - "Aare ekta daktar diye ki habe? Puro ekta medical team niye aay".
Some of them had to be admitted to Bangur Hospital. There the most affected were the pals who helped others to get admitted to the hospital. They had to be there all the night facing abuses from the nurses.
During the final match of Arghya Prasanna Trophy (better known as "Inter Hostel Cricket Championship") for the year 2004 with A2 Block, a great "Bawal" took place. Some of the boys from A2 Block started hurling "Khisti"s at New Blockians & then boys from "Boys Block" forced them to taste their own strategy. Mercury became so high that a "chang" came to show heroics to us but returned fruitlessly. At the end of the match, when they were beaten comprehensively, you can imagine what had happened...
