New Block Hostel has emerged as the champion in Arghya Prasanna Trophy (better known as "Inter Hostel Cricket Championship") for the year 2004.

On the way to become champion, NBH had mauled B-Block Hostel i.e. Research Scholar Hostel in first round. Batting first, B-Block managed just 40 runs before being bowled out to a spirited NBH attack led by Manas who bagged 4 wickets. Other wicket takers were Sudipta, Amit & Arindam. Then got home safely with 11 overs to spare in a 16 over match thanks to Koustav's towering sixes!

On the semifinals, NBH faced arch-rivals Old P.G. Chasing a total of 94, NBH managed to win by one wicket, though this result does not show the utter dominance of the New Blockians but this was the fact. Sudipta, Koustav, Uttam & Amit came handy with the bat.

In the grand finale, NBH faced pervious year's champion A2 Block to become the winner. Winning the toss, skipper Koustav elected to bat first. Opener Debikanta hammered Main Hostel bowlers to all the direction to make 31 runs. He was well supported by Sudipta once again. NBH made 90 runs. (How good their bowlers were would be shown by a simple example - they had given only 7 extras in 16 over match in J.U. ground!!). Manas stuck from the first ball when he got their best batsman bowled. Then began the "aayaram - gayaram" sequence (all credits to our bowlers & keeper - nevertheless). Their first six batsmen were out within five overs. Most of them play in ARENA!. By 9th over they were all-out for 48. Wicket-keeper Sneha caught five catches, two of them were superb.  Wickets were shared once again by Sudipta, Amit, Arindam & Manas of course.
