New Block Hostel is one of the oldest hostels of Jadavpur University. It is within the University campus & around it there are New P.G. cum R.S. Hostel, Old P.G. Hostel and Phy. Education Hostel.

Prof. Subarna K. Das (Library Science) is the superintendent of the Hostel.

Hostel is a three storied building & it is 'F' shaped. There are 30 rooms in the Hostel. Among them Room No.1 is the Guest Room, Room No. 6 is the Office Room, Room No. 8 is the Common Room (This Room has two subparts- TV Room & TT Room). Room Number 13 is renamed as 13A (to escape the evil effect of 13!), but there are rooms 12A &23A for some unknown reason.

The Number of Boarders in the hostel is 55 with a few guests as well.

The mess committee consists of 7 boarders - 4 from fourth yr., 2 from third yr. & 1 from second yr. No murghi (first yr.-sorry!) has the right to represent the mess committee.

The dining room is excellent except the great(!!) Bhabada's delicious recipes.
