About Me
I did my Bachelors in CSE from Jadavpur University, India in 1999. Subsequently, I worked at Network Management Group in Hughes Software Systems, India for more than 2 years. Later in 2001, I joined the PhD program at Dept of CSE, UCR.
In September 2006, I
finished my Ph.D. from Department of
Computer Science, University of California Riverside. My research
advisor was Professor Mart Molle. The title of my
PhD dissertation is, "Cross Layer Techniques to Secure
Peer-to-Peer Protocols for Location, Adjacency, and Identity
Verification." The abstract and fulltext can be found here. My
background is mainly in localization, network
security. I have also worked in network
management systems.
Currently I am working in Cisco Systems, San Jose, California, USA.
About my research
Localization is the technique to determine the locality (position) of an object. In my research I consider localization in ad-hoc. mesh or sensor networks. There are different possibilities to approach the problem of localization. We use the ranging method. where timing measurements are associated with distances. If the target device, the device which is being localized, is dishonest then there are lot of security issues in localization. We try to answer the question of how a general purpose network using packet-based communication can accurately and securely measure distances
Earlier, I worked with port-based network authentication (IEEE 802.1X). We proposed a network topology to be used in areas with high LAN-port density to make the port layout easy and flexible. We proposed small ethernet switches (called splitters) to use in conjunction with standard switches. We designed a solution for incremental authenticaion of each additional splitter.
