- Download and carefully read preface and chapter 1 of text: http://www.cc.gatech.edu/fac/Vijay.Vazirani/preface.ps. Make notes about what you don't understand, and what exercises you think you could or could not do. Schedule 1/2-hour meeting with me wednesday, thursday, or friday (in groups of 1-3 people) to go over these notes.
- optional "challenge" problem: Read Johnson's 1973 paper on Approximation Algorithms. (Handed out in class.)
