About

I am Muhammad Lutfor Rahman, currently a Ph.D candidate and Associate Instructor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering ( CSE ) at the University of California, Riverside ( UCR ). My research interest lies in the areas of Computer security, Neurosecurity, Brain-Computer Interface, and Human factors in security, etc. I explore the computer security problems ( e.g., phishing, access control ) through the lens of Brain-Computer Interface I am working under the supervision of Prof. Chengyu Song. Before starting my Ph.D., I received my Masters in Computer and Information Sciences from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in 2014. I worked with Prof. Nitesh Saxena at UAB. I completed my B.SC in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology ( BUET ) in 2009.

I have five years of software industry job experience. I worked at the US Army Research Laboratory at Los Angeles as a visiting researcher in the summer of 2018 and 2019.

I have worked four quarters as a primary instructor at UCR and four semesters as a teaching assistant at UAB.

For promoting rural underprivileged students, I co-founded the Education Foundation in the 2010s with friends. We have more than 40 volunteers in the team, and 80% of them were our contestants. We collaborate with 71 schools, and cover 20k students. We raised $12K in 2019 for educational and humanitarian causes.

We arrange merit test competitions, provide scholarships, offer free classes, organize educational seminars, do humanitarian work, establish a public library and five classroom libraries for reading books. We impact approximately 20000 students from 71 schools through our several programs. Currently, we have more than 40 volunteers working at the field level. As the chairman of the Education Foundation, I am involved in planning, fundraising, and execution; I also mentor our volunteers as well as hundreds of students.
