The textbook is is an e-book and is part of MyITLab. Please see the following MyITLab Labs section. MyITLab Labs:
Eight (8) of the labs will be done from a web site called MyITLab. The cost is $85.

LearnCS8 Labs:
Please read the following instructions carefully as you will need to sign up for 2 different web sites. The LearnCS8 labs are a set of four (4) labs where you create web pages using HTML. The instructions for each lab come from the LearnCS web site but the work itself is actually done using a second web site called Amazon Web Services (AWS). You will first need to sign up on the LearnCS8 site. The cost is $15. Note: The site uses Paypal for payment, but you do not need to have or create a Paypal account; Paypal has a "purchase as guest" option that allows you to enter a credit card number. You will complete the LearnCS8 labs on another web site called AWS (Amazon Web Services). Though anybody can create a normal AWS account for free, we are using "special" AWS accounts that allow you to share your workspace with your TA. Note: You must be connected to UCR's network to do the AWS setup. If you are remote (like almost everybody is), you can connect to the UCR network using the UCR VPN (Virtual Private Network). Once you have finished the AWS setup, you will be able to login to your AWS account to do your labs from anywhere. In other words, you will not have to keep connecting to the UCR network with the VPN to do your labs. Click the following link for instructions on how to setup your AWS account: If you have problems setting up your account, please contact your TA for assistance. Once you have setup your AWS account, you will need to use a special URL in order to login to AWS to do your labs. As stated above, this URL is available anywhere (i.e. you do not have to be connected to the UCR VPN). Note: Once you have completed each LearnCS8.com lab, you must upload the lab file(s) to the learnCS8.com web site and share your AWS workspace with your TA so he or she can grade your assignments remotely. The last page of each learnCS8.com lab has instructions for uploading your lab file(s). As for sharing your workspace with your TA, click the following link for instructions. Note that you should not make any further changes to an assignment after you have uploaded your lab file(s) and shared your workspace. |

All labs are web-based, which means all of the MyITLab and LearnCS8 assignments must be completed and submitted using a web browser. Note that it is highly recommended that you use the most recent version of Google Chrome to do the labs. Using any other browser, espcially Internet Explorer or Edge, is not recommended.
The process for submitting your labs are different for the MyITLab and LearnCS8 assignments.
No late lab assignments will be accepted without a doctor's note or other evidence of a serious situation which prevented you from being able to do school work for several days.
