Education and Previous Appointments:

I recieved my M.A and my Ph.D. from Princeton University , in 1992 and 1995 respectively.
I received my B.S. from the University of Patras , Greece, in 1990.
Before coming to UCR I held a Research Associate position in IBM Almaden , from 10/1996 to 12/1998, and a Postdoctoral position in the Max-Plank-Institut for Informatik, in Saarbruecken, Germany, from 9/1995 to 8/1996.
I was also a visiting researcher at the Univ. of Helsinki , Finland, during 9/1996 and 10/1996.

Research Interests

My research topics include data mining and knowledge discovery in databases, data bases, design and analysis of algorithms and computational geometry.
My current research interests include efficient indexing techniques for moving points, approximating range queries, similarity searching in sequence databases, local adaptive classification techniques, information retrieval in peer-to-peer systems, and analysis of sensor data.
