Project
There will be a final project in the class worth 40% of your lecture
grade (therefore 20% of your overall score).
This will be to create, and post, your own personal web-site. The
web-page must be on the CS Server and on a "free" server!
To get an 'A' your web-site should include:
- An index page with links to your other 5 pages and has a
title. The links should be inside a table.
Your other pages will be:
- A resume page that uses at least three different types of
lettering (meaning you can have three different colors, font sizes,
font types, or a combination thereof). It should also use
anchors for each section of your resume, and have links to those
anchors at the top of the page.
- A page with image links (click on the picture to go to the site)
of at least four interesting (interesting to you at least) web-sites
(news, weather, MP3's, friends, whatever). Each image should have a
caption that tells the user where the link will take them.
- A page that uses an unordered list (ul) of links to: a free
web-server, a free e-mail service, the CS8 homepage, the UCR homepage,
and a web-site that sells computers. It must include a short
description by each link.
- A page that describes how to create a web-page and then post it
on the CS server.
- A web-page about something that matters to you and you think the
world should know about. You need to make a presentation using
Microsoft Word or PowerPoint on the topic you choose (it should be at
least one page) and use "File save as web-page" and then add it to your
web-site.
To get full credit, you have to e-mail links to the web-sites to the
instructor (bgrattan@cs.ucr.edu) by 10AM on Friday, July 21st.
Here is a web-page to help you with HTML, if you choose to use it: http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_examples.asp
Cheating Policy
Cheating on midterms or lab assignments will not
be tolerated. Anyone caught cheating will receive an "F"
in the class, even for the first offense.
